I guess my little hummingbird friend got tired of flitting about and decided to take a breather. He is sitting on the frame of a portable canopy. In this shot you can actually see his tongue sticking out.

A Hummingbird to Brighten Your Day

I had a seriously crappy day and when I got home I went into the backyard to chill. Well that lasted about 10 minutes because this hummingbird showed up. I ran for the camera praying he would still be there when I got back ... not only was he still there but he flittered about for oven an hour. Just a FYI ... Trying to catch a hiummingbird with a camera is sort of like trying to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. In this photo I caught him/her coming in for a landing on the white thing you see in the foreground. It is actually a collapsible canopy we use over the pool to block the sun. I love that you can actually see his wings fluttering in this photo.

This particular view is only available at a certain time of day. I am not exactly sure why but I would imagine it has something to do with the angle of the sun. The larger mountain can only be seen at sunset and and the smaller mountain in front of it is a volcano. The volcano is about 40 miles from where I took this and the larger about 70. I was on the west face of the Sandia's looking west.

What ... Never Seen a Buffalo Before?

This buffalo just looks fed up. I think he was tired of being looked at all day. I took this right after the boys from the previous photo left. He is one of the buffalo at the Bien Muir Center. I am really sorry I have not been around visiting your blogs. We are in the process of "dumping" the house ... getting rid off all the crap we have collected over the years ... so that when we go to move to Portland in the fall we have less to haul with us. You don't realize how much crap you have till you try to move it and organze it. OMG ... it is just rediculous.

I went to see the buffalo the other day. When I got there these two boys and their parents were already admiring them so I just hung back which provided me with a photo opportunity in and of itself. It was fun to watch this family watching the buffalo. This was at the Bien Muir Center.

This is what Albuquerque looks like from up in the Sandia Mountains. The weather was quite something the day I took this and the light was amazing ... never saw light like it before. This stone building is one of my favorite subjects here in Albuquerque and I had never taken it from this angle. I think I like the other angle better. Click here to see it.
